Seeking Representation

Two witches. A portal. And lots of homework. Also a hot vet. And a perfect pair of Prada boots.

I am currently seeking representation for my first novel, Early Magic, a young adult contemporary fantasy of 93,000 words.

Told from the perspectives of two young witches–one overly confident and one completely green–the story will appeal to fans of The Raven Boys and These Witches Don’t Burn.

Rowan has it all, on paper. Beautiful, assertive, heir to the Standish fortune and granddaughter of the High Priestess, her smooth rise to the top of the coven should be a breeze. The only thing stopping her is her own ego.

Meanwhile, Danika doesn’t even know magic is real. She’s mourning the death of her mother when a charming English boy pulls her out of her grief and straight into Rowan’s chaotic path.

When Rowan loses her magic to Kinzey, a quirky local bookshop clerk/daemon, the two girls become embroiled in a mystery involving a fabled portal, stone keys, poor romantic choices, math homework, and lots of magic. Rowan must decide whether to offer Kinzey Danika’s magic in exchange for her own, before Kinzey destroys it forever, while Danika must come to terms with her mother’s loss and the fact that her death might not have been an accident. Thus, the story pairs California's youthful buoyancy with the darker pulse of a hidden magical world.

Early Magic is the first in a planned series.
